Source: Brown Eyed Baker

Gee, do you think the kids would like me to make these Triple Chocolate Scones this summer?

duct tape beachbag

Source: Spoonful

How sweet (and useful!) is this waterproof beach bag? That it’s made out of duct tape and can be done in a couple hours with your kids? Awesome!

Since I’ve got a bit of a monster theme this week, it’s probably not a surprise that I found this Lil’ Monster Birthday party idea adorable!

These easy paper strip monogram art look fun to do and I think would look fantastic over the kid’s beds or dressers.

Hmmm, what do you think about adding bacon to a refried bean-layer dip to make a Smoky 5-layer Dip for your next gathering? Sounds like it might be a way to shake the normal up a bit…

This Strawberry Shortcake Skillet Cobbler not only looks yummy and uses in-season strawberries, but I love that it’s made all at once in a cast iron skillet – sounds like the perfect early summer recipe!

Amy’s Notebook 05.29.13 {Summer Edition}

Wednesday, May 29th, 2013

Welcome to the Summer Edition of my weekly notebook! I know that once summer hits you all want to spend time with the kids and not as much on the computer (me, too!), so during June, July, & August the Notebook posts will be short and sweet with one or two photos and a handful of links.

Oh, but the links will still be the same quality that I always look for, just with a summer mentality! I’ll look for ideas that are quick, fun, memorable, involve the kids (or not!) and that will help to inspire you over the summer to cook seasonally, craft, and do projects that may actually get something checked off that to-do list!

Baked Donut Recipes – Our Family’s Favorite!

Monday, May 13th, 2013

Baked Donuts_MomAdvice

You may have noticed over the last few years that our family has fallen in love with baked donuts. Literally head-over-heals, preferring them to muffins (which baked donuts actually are more like) and in the case of our kids, even over the regular fried version (yes, it’s weird).

You also may have noticed that I have spelled them both ways occasionally – donut and doughnut – because we here in the states actually use both, although Google tells me that ‘doughnut’ is the grammatically correct version, while my spell checker prefers ‘donut.’ Kinda reminds me of that tomato-potato song:

You say doughnut and I say donut…let’s call the whole thing off!

No matter – both spellings work and the most important thing is that you try one of these easy baked donut recipes and see if your family likes them as much as mine does! (You will need a special pan, though, and this mini doughnut pan makes seriously cute donuts which may (or may not!) help keep the portions under control.)

Mother's Day table setting

Source: Joy The Baker

Wouldn’t you love to spend some time at a beautiful table like this for Mother’s Day?

I’m not sure if these kitchen storage ideas are life-changing, but some of them are really cool, especially using a fun soap dish for brush storage.

I’ve got to try making no-sew washable pillow covers made with glue – it sounds like a quick and easy way to update using some new fabrics.

I’m excited to find this super easy and adorable way to store twine – it’s easy to use and looks good at the same time!

This small hallway makeover that used maps for wallpaper is so amazing.

Okay, peanut butter, chocolate, and pretzels together in a cookie? My kids will LOVE these.

Oh my goodness, I’ve got to find some opportunity to make these sweet little cupcakes that look like mini tubs of popcorn!

This lemon asparagus couscous salad with tomatoes would make a perfect light lunch – maybe for a Mother’s Day luncheon?

I really like the way this front door and porch makeover refreshed this porch – especially the color choice for the door.

This recycled key wind chime looks like a quick – and quirky – craft to do with the kids. Now just to start collecting old keys…

Spring always makes me think about spiffing up the outside of our home, so I found these ideas to add curb appeal to your home really inspiring!
