Special Giveaway: Silhouette Craft Cutter ($300 Value)

This week I received a Silhouette SD Craft Cutter for review.  I truly felt like I hit the lottery on this giveaway and it is all thanks to my friends at How Does She? for offering this fantastic craft tool for myself and to give to one of our readers.

It is quite amazing the technology that crafters can now have right at their fingertips. I have been longing for a craft cutter for a long time and always think that if I had one of these, it would make gift-giving so much easier. I am a frugal gift giver, and nothing says I love you like a handmade gift that looks expensive. This craft cutter makes paper projects, gift-giving, glass etching, and vinyl art as easy as 1-2-3 and gives a professional touch to all of your gifts.  Although I have only had a couple of days to play with it, I am already so impressed at the exquisite detail and precision that this machine can do.

As you can see from the examples though, amazing things can be done with this handy little Silhouette machine. You can applique some throw pillows, make cute labels and organize all of those toys, make a welcome sign for your door, and so much more! Really, your imagination is the only thing that is going to stop you from being creative with this machine!

The machine comes with a few images already in your library of images to get you started. If you are looking for a specific design, you can search under whatever you might be needing or for someone special in your life and it will pull images for you that fit within those criteria. The search function helps finding the perfect image for the perfect gift very easy. The images cost $.99 each and they offer membership plans and options for bulk-buying where they can cost even less than this. Each week, they also feature a free download on their site that you can add to your library. You have to love those free perks!

Here is the honest truth, crafting just does not come easy to me. I can pretend to be awfully crafty, but it really does take a great bit of effort on my part. That is why, the projects that I will be featuring are things that any novice crafter could whip up in an afternoon.

Within just a few minutes of hooking the Silhouette up, I was making these cute cards to send as thank you notes for Ethan’s birthday gifts this year. This little cake cut-out was already in my library of images and I printed them out on a little heavy cardstock, gave it a quick stamp, and they are ready to send! I did this in five minutes, just imagine what you could do with a little more time!

I can’t wait to show off more projects that you can create with this cutter. But enough about me, let’s talk about this giveaway!

I need inspiration…and what would this new toy (um, I meant tool) do? It would get me rolling on some craftiness.

  2. 1106

I would use it for everything. I see an Owl t-shirt for my daughter, words for the walls, scrapbook embellishments. Where would I start and how would I manage to share it with my 16 yo daughter?

  3. 1107

I would love this for our elementary school. The teachers could use this for special classroom projects & fundraisers!!!!

I was diagnosed with kidney disease last year and I am on dialysis 3 to 4 times a week. I am very sick and somehow am allergic to the stuff they run through my dialysis machine. I am in bed alot, but when I am not in bed I scrapbook, so that everyone knows how important they are in my life. I have a 9 year old and feel like I need to document his life so he has it if I am not around. This machine would be so helpful….stickers and embellishments add up!

  13. 1117

project #1 make heat transfers… but i’d also use it for vinyl art, home decor, paper crafts, etc. thanks for the offer.

I would have many things I would like to do with a Silhouette if I won one. But I’d narrow it down to a couple of things. 1) I am making my 2 ½ year old and my 6 week old’s room into and Iowa Hawkeye room. This would be so awesome to make wall décor, appliqués for curtains, bedding and pillows. 2.) I would make shirts for family pictures. 3.) I would make religious shirts and wall décor.

  33. 1137

I would love to have one of these. It would really speed up my crafting projects. Thanks for a chance to win.

  34. 1138

I would probably use the vinyl option first. But the heat transfer would be my second choice. I would use it for all that it has to offer.

  35. 1139
  36. 1140

I’d probably start with heat transfer and then move on to vinyl. It just seems so fun!

WOW!! What wouldn’t I use this for? 3 little girls and 10 nieces/nephews = lots of party planning! How great would this be. LOVE the option for heating to t-shirts. Baby’s first birthday coming up, cupcake liners, cards, decorations … this would be a huge help!

  39. 1143

I would use the heat transfers first and make something for my sweet 10 month old

  42. 1146

I often have to cut out inserts for jewel cases when doing CD packaging. I can also see this would be good for doing custom covers in all sorts of shapes/sizes and varieties. I think this could be my favorite tool in no time flat!

  43. 1147
  44. 1148
  45. 1149

  55. 1159

Guess I combined both why I’d want this lovely machine and what I’d do with it into one previous comment. Let’s just say I’d love to give it as a gift-but I’d give them some ideas on what to make with it.

  56. 1160

I not only want a Silhouette, I totally NEED it! I’m a mother of four and finding ways to decorate, craft, and make gifts for friends and family is always a struggle. If I win the Silhouette I could do ALL of that, and then some!

  57. 1161

The most amazing thing about the Silhouette is not having to keep purchasing additional cartridges for new projects! The technology of purchasing exactly what you need, and only what you WANT from their website directly is awesome! And the range of options is so cool. There are so many different styles for each item searched!

  58. 1162

I would go crazy with projects!! Vinyl butterflies for my little girl’s room, cute onesies for my new little one, bling everything with rhinestones, etc., etc., etc!!

  68. 1172

I need this machine (so bad) because I rent my home and I can’t change the wall color, but I sure could make it my own with vinyl for the walls!

  69. 1173

My first project would be to help make my 2nd daughter’s “hand me down” clothes feel new to her with added details and embellishments!! She would love to feel like they were jazzed up for her!!

  70. 1174

I would love to win the Silhouette Cutter. The main reason I would like to win this is b/c it would inspire me to get caught up on my kids’ scrapbooks. Not only would it help me be creative, but the possibilities are limitless. Making scrapbook pages, my sons school projects, card making, & decorating our house. Thank You!

  71. 1175
  72. 1176
  73. 1177

I would simply vinyl my whole house!!! We’re adopting a baby girl from Taiwan and are leaving next week to get her! This would certainly spruce up my house when I get back!!!

  74. 1178
  75. 1179

I would try the glass etching first….I think, or maybe the vinyl lettering and letter my whole house….so many decisions.

  76. 1180

I need one of these tools as I am a huge scrapbooker and card maker and sometimes I run out of ideas or just plain tired of how my pages and cardes look. This would be great for embellishing etc. and making titles.
Thanks for the chance to win.
