One way I cut back in the kitchen is by serving up lots of soups and homemade bread. Not only do they last me more than one meal, they are quick and easy! Great post!

Oh I love an article about saving money on food! I do the same as both Elise and Travelbug-I buy large containers of a high use item and portion it out, and I try not to run out and get every single thing.

I also shop the sale ads almost exclusively-nearly everything I use often goes on sale eventually. Right now I have SOOO much meat in the freezer it's ridiculous-all of it bought for less than $2 a pound, most of it for 99 cents a pound, and some of it for even less than that. I trawl the web for recipes using those ingredients and that's what I'll buy for. I don't think I've spent much on groceries at all this month, I've just been using up what I've got.

I stopped going to the grocery store EVERYTIME I needed something - rather I take my time and make a concise list....I stick to it and if I missed something I compromise. I've saved so much with my grocery bill this way.

I cut back in the kitchen by purchasing fewer convenience foods. Instead of baby carrots, I buy a bag of large carrots and cut them up. I buy Ritz crackers and peanut butter and make my own peanut butter cracker sandwiches. I buy large bags of chips and put them in small containers for school lunches.
