Ok, so maybe I am a little confused. Why make oatmeal for 8 hrs in a slow cooker?

Is this the kind of oatmeal that takes longer to cook on the stove?

I eat the kind that you just pop on the stove for 5 min or so, or a couple min in the micro (not instant though).

Just wondering.

Oh, and the comments about the apple juice and the pumpkin etc in it sounds yummy. I will have to try that!

I make my slow cooker oatmeal with an additional cup of pumpkin puree, some cinnamon and freshly-ground nutmeg, and replace one cup of water with milk. It's so creamy and delicious!

cool- I had actually been wondering about cooking steel cut oats in the crockpot. I figured it must be doable but haven't tried it yet. I may have to do this tonight- I LOVE steel cut oats!
