I was doing good. So much better than last year. We walked down to the bus stop and he looked up at me with his big brown eyes. “Mama, I am going to miss you so much!” He squeezed my hand and leaned into me.

I cried all the way back, tears dripping in my coffee.

This does not get easier.

    Cute pictures! It is so hard letting them go, isn't it? I couldn't let my kindergartener get on the bus. That big bus and my little guy? Oh my! Driving him instead helps us both get over the separation.

    Hope your boy has a great day!

    I have two children. When my oldest started school, it was fairly easy because I still had my son had home. He became my shopping and lunch buddy. When he started school two years later, I cried the first day. I went to TCBY, got my favorite dessert, and cried as I told the gal serving it up. She listened, I ate, and that's how I survived the day.

    Those pictures are just amazing! It's comforting to be going through this with some of my favorite online people. :) I just took Punky to her first full day of kindergarten.

    Oddly, I was fine when both of mine started Kindergarten. It's not until now, with my daughter one year away from middle school that I'm starting to feel a bit panicky. They were still babies at age 5–now she's a step away from young adulthood and THAT is sad and scary.

    This will be me tomorrow when my oldest son starts kindergarten. He has been my constant companion for 6 years and I am going to miss him. At least I will still have his 4 yr old brother and 2 yr old sister at home with me.

    Oh my goodness, I am totally crying! Not only because your post was super sweet but because I will be doing this for the first time next week! I have been dreading this moment all summer! :(

    {big hugs}

    I know exactly how you feel! My son starts first grade today, and it's not any easier on me than it was last year!! I miss him so much during the days!

    I'm on the other end of this…soon I'll have a senior in high school. I only have a short time left before she is an adult. Hopefully, I can teach her all she needs to know.
