I have a hard time incorporating veggies and fruits into our meal plan – I tend to just plan the main course and then if I have something on-hand, I’ll throw it together. I’ve been trying to put veggies and fruits into my main course (i.e. carrots in meatloaf, applesauce in waffles, etc), but I find that fresh produce is one of my biggest expenses for meals (and rarely can I get a coupon for fresh produce). I try to buy frozen veggies (w/ coupons). Is there a good way to incorporate fresh/frozen fruits and veggies in a cost effective manner?

    Ashley-

Buying frozen with coupons is smart! And a perfect way to keep variety on hand. Another idea: Only buy produce that is on sale that week. Experiment with new fruits and veggies. Buy enough for 5 or 6 meals and the frozen can be used when necessary. And don’t worry if the veggie doesn’t “match” the meal!
