For my daughter's shower I bought thank you cards and handed them to each guest as they arrived. They addressed the card and on the inside flap wrote what they brought. At the end of the shower one person drew a name and I had a gift card to Cracker Barrel for $20.00. It was really worth it for the new mom to have all that info.

I did this for a friend's Jack & Jill party, but I think it would work even better at a baby shower:
The Wish Jar:
Get a pretty jar from Goodwill (or pretty up one of your own with a ribbon) and keep multicolored scraps of paper along with ribbon ties (I punched the ribbon through the paper on one end) and markers nearby.

Have guests each put a wish for the baby on the paper and tie it up like a little scroll and drop it into the jar.

At the end of the day the mom-to-be can take home more than presents - heartfelt wishes for her little one's lovely future.

Makes a great keepsake :)

Yep, I agree. A baby shower especially on this scale really needs to be kept as simple as possible.

I would forget about the games, with that many people it would be hard to co-ordinate the games. I would suggest to just let the guests mingle and by the time the prezzies are opened and you have had the food it's more or less time for the guests to go.

Great tips! Planning a shower can be time consuming and expensive. I love your idea on double use of things. Example - the centerpiece with diapers. Great for the decor and for the baby to get much needed use out of it.

Wow! What great ideas Amy! I can't wait to try ALL of the cupcake recipes:)

I totally understand the want to serve alcohol with it being a coed shower and all but at the risk of sounding old fashioned, I don't think it's appropriate! Not to mention expensive and like Becca said, the guest of honor isn't able to partake:(.) I wouldn't feel obligated at all if I were you!

I am co-hosting a shower in a couple of weeks... We are sticking with simple games, $10 gift sets from Bath and Body Works for prizes, brunch, and super cute cupcakes! Centerpieces are bottles filled with candy and balloons, and a banner for decoration!;)

I think a diaper raffle would be fun for J.'s large group. Each couple brings a pack of diapers, any brand, any size, in exchange for a raffle ticket.

Going green on the invites may be a money saving option as well by utilizing email or Facebook.
