Yup, I made it again because I loved the pattern that much. I am, in fact, working on a third one and I am afraid that I will never knit anything BUT these Anthropologie inspired knitted capelets again.
This one was knitted with Lion Brand Homespun yarn in a moss green. It happened to be on sale, right after the holidays, and I bought two packages of it for only $4 each! I was able to knit this pattern using only one of the packages so I am sure I will be able to find a good use for that extra yarn. The button was the second in the package of what I had used from before.
Don’t be surprised if I never knit anything else again. I am working on one in black and was able to pick through my girlfriend’s stash of antique buttons for the next one. You know, because every girl needs a black capelet. It goes with everything.
Details on Pattern: This is the Anthropologie Inspired Capelet from Peony Knits. I used size 11 (8.00 mm) needles and Lion Brand Homespun Yarn in Moss Green, purchased at Michael’s. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to make it so I bought the inexpensive yarn.
Modifications: I added two inches to the length of the capelet and then added 5 rows of additional ribbing to the sleeves. It is a small pattern. I have a very narrow frame and am petite and this fit me perfectly. I would recommend modifications if you are busty or have a wider frame. This project did require some blocking, but came together quickly with instant gratification.

Love the capelet! I am a knitter myself and went to the site you posted for the directions. I dislike the capelet on that site. Not my style. I don’t like how it cuts across the bustline. Not busty myself but am a practical Indiana girl too! My mother’s parents were from the Elkhart area. My parents have lived in Mishawaka, Warsaw and Greencastle. (Now live in Kentucky myself.) I prefer it the traditional length that you have made with the green one. Did you lengthen the pattern? DId you add additional stitches around so it would not pull away to the back at the bustline?
Have you looked on Ravelry? There is a lace short sleeved cardi that is similar but lacey.- the CeCe sweater. I plan to make that but yours really caught my eye to make as a spring sweater or a gift.
You may also want to check out Knitpicks if you haven’t already done so. This is inexpensive quality yarn. Different fiber blends available though a limited color supply. I think they buy qunatity from a supplier then they get balled all with their “generic” label on it. THey have some knew circular needles too. Very unique. You buy the length cord you need and then you buy the needle tip size separately. THe needle tips just get screwed into the size cording you need. YOu can also unscrew with your project still on the cording, then screw on a cap that is provided. Then, you are free to use the needle tips on another cord with another project if you have 2 going.

Heather- I honestly did not add to the width of the pattern at all and instead just lengthened it so it didn’t hit right below the bra-line. I wanted it to be longer than that. I think the difference between myself and the picture for the pattern is that I am very small on top. For someone who is more busty, the pattern might require some modifications to accommodate on top. I, unfortunately, do not have that problem
