This was a fun year for us as parents because both of our kids finally “got” all the trick-or-treating fun. We kept our costumes fun & frugal this year. Emily was a bumblebee, which was a costume hand-me-down from her big brother. Ethan also kept changing his mind until the very last minute so I waited until Target marked the Halloween costumes down to 30% off and got his super cool ninja costume at a little lower price than I would have gotten it normally.
We tried to keep Emily out of the candy, but she managed to get into and suck on a purple sucker while we went door to door. The evening ended with a sucker stuck to her hair & bumblebee costume so that will require a good washing this week.
We loved going around and seeing all of our great neighbors and showing off how big our children were. We have plans to put the costumes on again this week to go see all of the grandparents since we weren’t able to squeeze that in with me heading out of town in the morning. Any excuse to wear the costume again and get more of our money’s worth out of it seems like a smart plan to me!
I hope you enjoyed the festivities, whatever they may have been, with your families!

Cool pictures! My littlest one was a bee too! I’m glad y’all had a good time.

They look so cute! Our Halloween was fun & frugal, too – the boys' costumes were from around the house. Ryan was a baseball player (using his real uniform & cleats) complete with eyeblack. Cade was a cowboy; he had a real leather vest & chaps (also that we already owned.
Thursday we went to a Halloween "carnival" at our local Senior Center which was a blast, then we trick-or-treated downtown with friends.
Halloween night we went to friends' party – which was complete with games, hayride & bonfire. So much fun, and all it cost was gas.

Cute pictures! For some reason, I was always drawn to dressing mine up like insects too…haha! We have done a ladybug before.
I posted pictures on my blog too.
Have a good day…

What cute kiddos you have, Amy!

Too cute, I am amazed what people spend on costumes. I have been creting mine for a couple of years now and I cannot sew. The first year my son was a skunk using old fur granny hats at goodwill, the next my husband and he were Dr. evil and mini me using old grey suits and this year he was Elvis. It was a blast and cheap.

too cute! I did a mostly homemade costume this year.
My strategy, which I will be trying again next year, is to bring some healthier treats in the stroller. So my little man had a couple natural lollies and pigged out on organic cookies while we went door to door. He had a plain chocolate bar when we got back to the house and the rest of the junk stayed at grandpa’s. (More to save ME from eating it all. LOL) Who knows if that trick will do it when he’s older, but it was a good plan for now.

Fun pix, Amy. Nathan’s costume was a hand-me-down from a friend at church. Can’t beat the price!

Aww…the ol’ Bumblebee costume. I remember Alex wearing it when he was a year old
Thanks again, by the way. I can only imagine how many other friends’ kiddos that costume has been lent to!! Glad you guys had a great Halloween. The kids looked too cute!

Amy,
Was the bee costume machine washable? Any tips on cleaning my Piglet cosutme(it’s soft velour)? It says spot clean only but really could use a good washing from the baby drool. Thanks, heather
