these are great!! I've been making a whole bunch of gifts, but I was pretty stumped on what to get my boyfriend this Christmas…I'm going with the mix CD idea, the favorite cookies, a few tee-shirts, and actually, hilarious little stupid things work great too! I found this book that = instant laughs every time it's read. my plan is to sneak it in his book shelf in his room when he's not looking so he can find it a few days later, laugh, but also think of me

May I recommend cheese? My brother is one of those computer geeks who either a)has it already or b)it’s waaay too expensive for my budget. He has always loved cheese, however, so for Christmas I went to the grocery store and picked up a few different gourmet cheeses, and packaged then with a nice box of crackers and some homemade fudge and mounds candies.

Amy I have both problems mentioned here - the men in my life (minus my husband) that I buy for are (1) men, and (2) have everything already.

This year for my dad, who restores classic cars (and just built a new garage for them) I have taken detail shots of the cars, and I'm framing them myself.

For my FIL, we had an opportunity to have an official helmet from his favorite football team signed by the coach - so that worked out wonderfully.

A GREAT book for gift ideas that are meaningful for everyone on your list is The Giftionary by Robyn Freedman Spizman. Lots of ideas!

Although, I have to confess - I always check your site first!

My husband likes the gift of food and drink, definately! He’s always asking for kitchen gadgets (he’s the chef around here) and wine and other fun foods. However his requests are never budget friendly

One year I filled his stocking full of different salamis and sausages and jerkies. He LOVED it!
I might do that again this year too. My dad also has enjoyed receiving a really good (uncooked) steak in previous years. What carnivores!

I offer the following men-gift-giving advice with one disclaimer: It depends on the man. If your guy is a “frugal dad” like me, he probably values gifts from the heart.

For instance, last Valentine’s Day my wife filled a candy jar with 50 Reasons Why She Loved Me. Literally, she handwrote on fifty strips of red and white paper why she loved me, and filled the glass candy jar. It remains my favorite gift of all time.

If your guy suffers from “tech lust” then you can’t go wrong with anything from Best Buy. Do-it-yourselfers enjoy things like Home Depot gift cards (I’m giving one away on my site–I know, shameless plug), or any kind of power tool. It doesn’t get much sexier than the thought of our wives jotting down the model of our old, beatup cordless drill and picking up a new one. Just make sure he doesn’t actually love his old, beatup cordless drill! This last idea may be a bit more expensive than planned, but you get the idea.
