Thanks for this great article! I love photography and actually took a course in college, a [cough] while ago. Back then, it was all manual developing -- so I know a few tricks regarding film in the darkroom (dodging and burning, for example) -- but not only do I not have my own darkroom, today everything is digital!

I would love to start doing more with my photos through the various places that offer photo books, but I get frustrated trying to figure out how to get the effects I want. You asked for suggestions: maybe a bit more detail on some of those photo editing options?

And any ideas (like the ones in this article) on getting toddlers to hold still long enough are always welcome, too!

Thanks for the great tips Daniel.
I too go thru the last years worth of photos….pick 12 to 15 and put them in a collage frame with the date on the front…It is fun to see the year in review many years later.My favorite photo is of my two grandchildren also on the beach (taken from the back) with a sunset.

Thank you for some great tips. I agree with you on the photoshopping. There's only so much you can do when you start with a bad picture. Truly great pictures start in the camera.

But I had never heard that about the lenses. I'm going to have to keep that in mind. I'm ready to go from a point and shoot to a SLR, and that's really good advice. Thank you.
