Things I craft look terrible, but I love them anyway. And yes, Joann's and Michaels are like luminescent beacons to me. One thing I would say: genealogy gets very expensive very fast as a hobby. It has a tendency to suck you in, and ordering vital records, paying for memberships, maintaining subscriptions to online data sites.... it adds up.
