I know, I am supposed to be on vacation, but I had to tell you guys that the Walmart Money Saving Moms site is up. I was so excited to see that my Choosing a Coffeemaker video is up on their homepage- how cool is that? I have been chatting with all of the folks from Walmart and one of the bonuses for this project will be that I can get an early glimpse into the freebies that they will be offering on their site for our readers. I was really excited about that and being able to get the scoop for everyone! There will be some other great perks for our readers including giveaways and other wonderful opportunities so I hope to share all I can from this project with each of you.
Thank you all for your help in choosing my picture. You can find my profile is up and I went with the majority on this one and picked #10. I loved all of your comments and I am sure you will see these pictures floating around for everything now. Thanks again to Cathy Dietz for her amazing photography and to Walmart for footing the bill for my photo shoot!
In other news, we are running an amazing giveaway that you can enter for a gift pack of ten books from Hachette Book Group USA. All you have to do is tell me your favorite book, but you have to go here to enter!
We were also nominated for a Love This Site! award from Divine Caroline for the Parenting category. If you agree, would you mind just clicking once to put you vote in? I would so appreciate it!
Now I am officially back on vacation until tomorrow for our Freebie Friday!

Congratulations on being part of the “11 Moms” project! I noticed your video on the homepage of their site. I look forward to future videos from you, and all the moms featured.

Congratulations on your video!
I hope this doesn’t mean you will be doing actual business with Walmart. Their business practices are well known as being shady and perhaps an association will put people/moms off. Just a thought.

No, it doesn’t mean that. I am just posting tips for money saving, but am under no obligation to promote Walmart or their business practices.
I am hoping it will be a great way to expose our blog to people who don’t know about it and that I can help families who are struggling financially find some creative ways to save money.
No further association required

Congrats, your video looks great. I am ssurprised that it’s called Money Saving Moms, though, since there is already a Money sSving Moms on parents.com and of course a well known money saving mom without the s. Not a criticism, just an observation. It’s like putting a mom advice on walmart, know what I mean? Walmart mom advice or wWlMart moms advice…
Oh, and your pic looks great, too!

I LOVE your new video! I’ve never heard of a French Press. Is that right? You stated you needed coarsely ground coffee, can you not use store bought ground coffee? Just wondering. Thanks again for the great advice!

Congratulations Amy–how wonderful for you!

Heather B- Yes, a French Press! These are great and you can get different sizes. I have seen them on Amazon, at Target, or you can pay a little more and get them at Starbucks.
Coarsely ground coffee is preferred because it will help when you plunge the plunger down to not let the grounds escape. You would just hit the supermarket and do the coarse grind from the fresh whole beans or you can find a French Press that has a double filter and not worry as much about it. Mine has the filter plunger and then where I sip (because it is a travel mug) there is an additional mesh strainer so fewer grounds can escape. If it only has the plunger (not a thermal mug like mine) coarsely ground well help keep the grounds at the bottom.
I might have to do an article on a French Press
