Frugal Hacks: 6 Months Until Christmas

Don’t you hate me already? Six months until Christmas, everyone! It is time to start thinking about ways you can save for the holiday season. On Frugal Hacks, I am sharing some things that we have started doing to get ready for the holiday season so we can stay under budget!

Two years ago, I actually started a Christmas journal and now I have created a Christmas file folder of the things that I want to do for the next year’s holiday. In our little Christmas Memory Journal, I have included the recipes for what dishes our family loved the most, what the children asked for from Santa, what we spent the holidays doing, and tucked inside are the sweet letters and pictures to Santa. Someday I hope to give each of the kids a journal so that they can share those recipes and memories with their own families someday!

My inspiration comes from so many place so I am bookmarking all of the crafts and projects I want to try. My notebook entries are my virtual bookmarks to holiday ideas and have helped me each year with some much needed holiday inspiration.

Here is a round-up of Christmas fun to help inspire you in this July heat!

I am already getting excited about Christmas this year. The last two years I was in grad school and didn’t have much time to be creative. I’m looking forward to following the links. I already checked out the recipe for the nuts!

    Thanks!

I’ve been wanting to get ready for Christmas too! I’ve been wondering how early I can mention it without people wanting to throw things at me. It makes it so much easier to start early.

See – just one more way we are kindred spirits! :) I’ve actually started making my gifts already and am planning to post one idea a week throughout the fall. I bookmark ideas and then look through and make a list of what I want to do that year. Usually, several jump out above the rest.

This year, I am making wool dryer balls, signs, hand warmers, button jewelry and sock monkeys!

Wow, you’re thinking of Christmas already? You are my hero. :)

I have a bad habit of thinking of Christmas around, say, late October, early November. On a good year. LOL!

Actually, this is good for me to read. Maybe I need to take a bit of time this week and write up a bit of a list of things that I could start to prepare, look for deals on, etc. in advance. What a concept! :)

Christmas.. yikes! I’m full blown into anti-commercialism right now. I can’t even think about it! Wake me in 3 months :)

Never too early to starting preparing. We are thinking alike this week. I just did a post on blog on the ways I have already prepared for Christmas.

    Amy,

This post made me laugh because while my husband’s family has been all together this week, we drew names for Christmas gifts (among the siblings). I keep a little notebook in my purse so I can record gift ideas and keep them with me throughout the year.

So funny. My husband and I were just talking about making weekly Christmas purchases and socking them away until December. I can’t wait to make your Oreo Biscotti’s. I think the kids and I will have to try those out tomorrow. Thanks for the tips!

I’m also an early planner for Christmas. I have a few gifts bought and plans for several others. Shopping ahead really helps save money.
