HI!
I found your blog as i searched for "lego party" What a great party idea! I am working on some ideas for this theme right now.
Next time you have a cake hard to ice like that melt canned frosting in the microwave until it gets just a bit runny then pour it over the cake using a spatula to help it into the crevices. WORKS LIKE A CHARM! I would love it if you visited my blog and followed me!

Amy, seriously, this is genius. Dominic is a Lego savant and has become obsessed by them lately. I'm going to make him the cake as a back-to-school surprise (have you figured out how to make a baton shaped cake yet?) And he'll love the coloring pages to beat the too-hot-to-play-outside boredom tomorrow. See you soon!

Good for you! We did a Lego cake/party for my son's first birthday. A 9 by 13 cake with cupcakes for "bumps" and all the free decoration we could scavenge out of my daughter's Lego stash! LOL

Theme parties are the way to go! All things- simple & affordable- are suddenly "cool" when they fit with the theme! These cakes are great!
Thanks for sharing!

We did a Lego party for my son's 6th bday too (back in January). My husband is the chef in our house (yeah!) and he made a great lego cake ... he even made fondant to frost it with. I was quite impressed and so was our son! :)

Ooo, my son just turned 11 and we had a Lego party. Late last year I found Lego fruit chews. We went bowling, dd fell and fractured her thumb and as a result we forgot to give out the fruit chews! But, I too made a Lego cake. 2 cake mixes, 1 for a 9x13 cake and the other for cupcakes. Use the cupcakes as the the round parts and you put them on top of the cake. I used 2 toothpicks per cupcake to keep them in place. And you're right, it was a booger to frost! Never could get it smooth no matter how hard I tried.

That is so cute! We had our 2-year-olds birthday this weekend too. We had a pancake cake with a Thomas The Train theme.
