I'm still in the babysteps stage of greening my life and like you, I'm trying to also be frugal.

I have long hair, and inevitably I always end up with a quarter of a bottle of conditioner left when I run out of shampoo. I realized one day that I had five bottles of almost empty conditioners. So I combined all of the bottles together into one and now I use that in place of shaving cream for my legs and underarms. It didn't make sense to me to spend $3 on shaving cream when I could use hair conditioner and get the added benefit of sof and silky smooth skin.

I don't feel like I'm wasting the product as much and this way I am more apt to remember to wash both bottles out and place them in the recycle bin rather than throwing them away individually.

I started doing the oil method and I love it! It does take awhile, but well worth it. I also just started the no-poo thing and am not sold on it yet. I heard that your hair can go through a "greasy" stage, and I think I've hit that stage. I'm planning on using the Divacup when I am finished nursing.
I'm going to check out the preserve razors...

I haven't done much yet, other then showering mostly every other day and Tom's toothpaste (ginger mint is our fav, but makes other people gag :0)

My Favorite and I tried out the no shampoo thing for a bit. My hair is too thick, so I just wasted more water then I would have. And it is very time consuming, again, probably because of the thick hair. Can't hurt to try though!

I have sensative skin too, so this part is a bit easier for me because I have to buy fragrance free anyway.

We use Preserve toothbrushes and they give you a postage paid envelope to send your toothbrushes back to them in so they can be recycled. I buy them at Trader Joe's.
I like Tom's of Maine toothpaste and deodorant, they are a pretty eco company.

There is a lot I haven't even thought about in this category though, so I'm glad you gave all those links for me to look up.

I don't shower every day, glad that is thought of as a green practice!

I'm just starting to green up my life, so I haven't done much with personal care yet.

I have a Diva Cup, but I'm not sold on it yet. I don't find it to be very comfortable. I'll have to keep trying.

I'll have to watch the comments on this thread for more great suggestions. I'm going to check out Preserve razors and the EcoDent toothbrush.

I the same tooth brush as Steph, I think it's EcoDent? It's cheap too since you are only replacing the brush part and not the whole thing.

If you can sew, you can make your own "mama cloth" I have a collection of ones made by other WHAMs. I use a combo of them and a Diva.

I use the crystal deodorant in the winter 'cause I don't sweat much and it keeps me from smelling. But it just doesn't cut it in the summer. No "natural" deo I've tried has worked in the summer so it's good old Dove.

I use shampoo bars and vinegar rinses for my hair. (check out chagrinvalleysoapandcraft.com Lots of info and homemade soaps for sale) I think the price for the bars are comparable to drugstore shampoo and have been a life saver for my scalp.
I wash my hair every other day and just take a quicky shower on my non-shampoo days.

Oh and I've tried the oil cleansing method. I really like it but don't always remember to do it. It takes several minutes to do it right.

Enjoying your thoughts on the book!

I prefer clean shaven legs and under arms in the summer, so I use Preserve razors. I also use the Keeper (like the Diva Cup) and we use a toothbrush that can be recycled and you replace the head, but I forget what brand it is!

Steph
