I'm also guilty of undergarment-procrastination. I definitely need to take better care of myself and my own needs too.

I'm horrible at taking care of myself. I never buy myself new things even when i need it, although I have no problem buying things for the boys. I've even had a gift certificate for a massage for a year and still haven't used it. That would require spending time on me and that I never seem to manage. Although I'm trying to do better. YOur post encourages me to keep trying. THanks.

Amy - Oh my I can completely relate to you on this! I just made myself buy a new pair of jeans and 2 new decent bras. Other than that I had yucky old nursing ones that didn't fit and jeans that were developing literal holes that were embarrassing to be caught wearing. I just hate spending money on myself but like you said...sometimes you do need to replace items and it isn't good to just put it off and go around being embarrassed of how you are dressed!

Boy, by the end of your post this was really hitting home!! I'm still wearing ratty old nursing bras (and my baby hasn't nursed in over a year) because I don't want to spend the money on new stuff. I get my hair cut about twice a year because I don't want to spend the money. I rarely buy clothes or shoes of any kind for myself because I don't want to (yes, spend the money). On the other hand, with all the freebies I've been getting thanks to your site I have plenty of pampering and toiletry items that I didn't spend a dime on!<br />And I did ask for one of those bubbling foot spas for Christmas and enjoy it thoroughly, when I remember to use it.

Too true! All of it. I am really bad at self-care to the point where I have driven myself to exhaustion - literally. My new committment is to take time for myself realizing that if I don't I'm not teaching my daughters to, and that would be a shame.

I don't seem to have a problem with basic appts (dr, dentist) but others like hair and new clothes are definitely an issue! :) (I do the budgeting so I know how tight our finances are.)

I occasionally fall into the trap of canceling personal health appointments, etc. I have learned over the years though that I must take of myself so that I can take care of others.

Wow. I could have written this too. I'm the same way -- if I need a new skin care item or underwear (!) or something of the sort, I don't give in because I'm trying to not spend so much money. And I too put off appointments for hair, etc., because I'm too busy with other family stuff and it just seems like a hassle. But your post came at the perfect time, because I've been struggling with my "frumpy" self lately. Thanks for the inspiration!
