Hi Amy, I think you are a little early for Indiana (I'm in OH and our late frost date is also May 15). Hopefully all the nasty weather is behind us! On the upside, your plot is close to the house, which will help protect it from frost and keep it warmer than it would be in the middle of the yard. If there is a frost warning you will want to cover your plants with a sheet. On any mornings with light frost, you will want to go out before the sun is all the way up and spray them down with water to prevent the leaves from getting "burnt". Your herbs should be fine, it would be the tomatoes I would worry about if you get a cold snap. Good luck!! :)

Thanks for letting me know. Hopefully the plants will be good as it has warmed up here. I will keep an eye on them though and keep them covered in the frost. I guess I jumped the gun this year :)

Scribbit- Awesome, thank you so much!

Frugal Dad- Hopefully the trellis will be enough to block the kids, but we will see. This is the first year I haven't put up barbed wire...just kidding. I will check out your article- thanks for sharing!

Niki- Enjoy that reading!! I hope you find something that will help you!

What a coincidence - I posted a square foot gardening article today, too. Must be the weather!

Your garden is looking great. I especially like the trellis around the garden to keep little feet off the soil. I had to put our square foot garden up on a table to keep my kids's feet of ours (and to prevent our dog from eating the crops!).

I think you might be a just a little early, Amy. I think the frost date is usually May 15, so you'll want to watch the weather forcast and cover your plants if there is a threat of frost.
