The Motherload Blog

This morning on WSBT, I shared some tips for saving money on your beauty services. This is something that I talk about frequently because it is such a huge expense for families. If you have multiple children, haircuts alone can cost an arm and a leg, not to mention if you want to keep up with the beauty trends.

Here are some entries to go along with our topic this week:

Open Your Own Beauty Shop
Overcoming My Fears: Cutting Hair
Me Time

Sound Off: What are some ways that you have saved your family money on beauty/hair cuts? Do you have any special beauty recipes you use for your own pampering needs?

I always cut my boys hair… all three of them (my husband included) and are often asked by other moms for a how-to. I think I need to post a how-to!

You looked great on TV amy!

It’s been about 12 years ago that one of the women in our (former) church taught a class for moms on basic haircutting. With 10 children and a hubby, I’m sure we’ve saved a fortune by now! The fun thing is that I was able to teach both of my daughters-in-love to cut their hubbies’ hair, and I even did the first haircut (and since) for my grandson.

Hi Amy! I always enjoy watching your segment. I cut my husband’s hair (never knew how before, but watched a video about it right when we got married 5 years ago.)

Anyway, I stumbled across this website (www.expertvillage.com)and thought of you! I was initially interested in the step by step sewing videos for all sorts of projects, but quickly realized the many various topics they have from gardening to cutting hair! Just use the “search” area and type in anything you want to learn how to do!

BEWARE though…it’s ADDICTING to watch all these Do It Yourself Videos!!!

I cut all my kids hair, it saves me time and money. I know some day they will want a real hairdresser but now I will do it while I can.
This is weird but my husband colors my hair a majority of the time. It save money and he does a good job. I have paid good money for a lot worse.
I am lucky to in that I did nails while I was in college so I can do all nail care stuff. Except getting a foot massage with a pedicure, not the same when you do it yourself.

To be honest, we bought a flobee a year ago and absolutely love it! My husband is better at using it for himself and our son than I am! It works great and saves us a ton of money!

Hair was a crowning glory of the girls and indeed it is still nice to see lady with straight long hair. But it depends on the person that was looking others would not agree of me that still that was i believe.

Hello, my name is Angela Harris, co-founder of Bring It Home Beauty Inc. – a company I created with my mother, Becky that does the unthinkable. We demystified salon treatments and broke them down step-by-step so the average consumer can replicate salon looks and treatments at home. In other words, we believe every woman can look chic for less.

My mom Becky has been in the beauty business for 25 years and recognized clients’ frustration when they didn’t’t possess the skill to recreate the “salon looks” at home. That’s when Bring It Home Beauty was born. We broke
the rules and created a line of high quality DVD’s where experienced professionals guide you every step of the way through easy-to-follow visual instruction, using products readily available at major retailers and local beauty supply shops (we do not push any products). Bring It Home Beauty – Hair guides viewers through cuts, color, highlighting with foil and styling (blow-drying, curling, updo’s, and French braiding) for the entire family minus the appointment setting, driving, waiting and high cost. Bring It Home Beauty –Natural Nail Care provides instruction on how to perform luxurious paraffin dips; spa quality manicures and pedicures, French manicures, broken nail repair and men’s care.

With looming tough economic forces at play, we know the time is right for our product. No longer will people need to forego their favorite beauty services due to time and budget constraints. Thanks to Bring It Home Beauty
our customers look their best every day without breaking the bank and without making an appointment!

Please let me know if you would like more information.

    Thanks!
    Angela Harris
