Oh what memories. Card games = cheating in my family. Not by me, by my brother, and my uncles, and now my husband, and his brothers - always on me! Hmmm... my favorites (even though I always lost due to the cheating) were Uno (a must in our family gatherings), Sorry (we just loved saying SORRY!!), and Scrabble when we were a bit older. And war? We played that game for THREE DAYS STRAIGHT as our youth group drove from Ohio to Mexico. You aren't kidding when you say it can last a loooong time!

We love playing card games with Ryan; he really seemed to take to them rather quickly. I loved card games when I was little, too.

It's not the best game to teach the kids, but I learnd it at a good age, about 4, from my older brother, about 8. Later I taught it to my little brother, about 6 years younger than me.

It's called, "I Win, You Lose!" And it's that simple, the dealer always wins. No matter what.

At first it was annoying, then it just got funny. We laughed so hard.

I haven't taught my kids yet. Maybe it's time for me to win...

WE LOVE to play card games! I have many fond memories of playing cards with my family. My husband also comes from a game playing family (we still play cards or a game at most family gatherings). It has been fun and educational to teach our children these well loved games!!!
Heather

Coincidence! My son and I played War last night. We have our own variation that we play called To the Death. It's fun to connect with your kids through play.

My boys love "war" as well. My dad taught me cribbage as a child (from 9) and I still love to play a game with him now. We will be visiting my mum and dad for Easter and will get my dad to teach my son to keep the tradition going. This is a great game for mental arithmetic.

We played War on the way to and from school on the bus. But, my favorite game..more as a teen, was rummy. My friends and I would set the winner score really high and play all night.
