I buy most of my doughter's church clothes at a local consignment/thrift store for about $5. dollars each. I wash them in lingerie bags and hang dry and it keeps them in great shape. Then the next summer I sell them in my yearly garage sale for about the same price I bought them for! It lets me dress her frilly and fancy like I want to, but still keep my costs down. Ebays also a great place to watch for clothes.
Great post!

Our Easter is always about family. We spend the day with all the extended family at the park and playing.
I think holidays are about family time.
As for Easter clothes - my kids do not like to dress up. Bummer for me.

Rebecca
http://funandfreegiveaways.blogspot.com/

I've been so spoiled because my MIL buys the kids their Easter outfits and has done their baskets every year thus far. Some day she may get tired of it, but since she enjoys it right now, I'm just going with the flow.

But if I had to buy them I'd be keeping my eyes out at the thrift stores and yard sales :)

I am able to have my little girl get new Easter dresses very frugally -- my mother sews quite well, and wants this to be one of her "grandma" gifts each year. She also encouraged using things for Easter "baskets" that can be reused -- I remember several years a child, our Easter "baskets" were actually new pails for the sandbox.

We love Easter at our house! It is a wonderful chance for my husband and I to have real conversations with our children 2 and 1 about Jesus dieing on the cross for their sins. Of course they do not under stand this much, however it is wonderful to see the light in their eyes when reading about him raising from the dead!

We also hunt for Easter Eggs and have a big family dinner! We too have the tradition of buying our lttle girls new dresses (If you can call two years a tradition! :)

For Easter, I put out about 80 eggs in my yard for the kids to find. Inside them are coins. My kids always get so excited about the Easter egg hunt. I am tricky. I make them separate all the coins into groups, then we have to count the money. I know it is weird to use a holiday for a learning day. But they really enjoy it and they learn too.
The Easter bunny sometimes brings presents and sometimes he brings candy. I am not a big fan of the candy but my husband thinks it is part of Easter. My kids do not seem to care either way.

In the past I'd always found a cute but simple dress at a rummage sale in the summer for Easter for my daughter and a nice shirt for my son. I didn't this year. I splurged and made a special dress for her. First time sewing a dress and it turned out pretty well. I feel the $ was well worth it, not just for a dress for her but for the craft time for me. Dress picture here. Fabric and supplies were still less than what I'd pay for something else that would only be worn once.

I thought I'd start a new "tradition" for the Easter Baskets this year - by adding seed packets. I usually try to minimize candy by adding toys, but seeds seemed so fun and my smallest is just beginning to understand what seeds are. Will be fun to see if we can get them to grow.
