Heartwarming, isn’t it? The two children holding hands and whispering to each other. Until you realize that they are whispering, “Let’s fight the evil forces that try to tell us that eating candy is bad for us. Let’s stand together as one army and tell them NO! Our candy consumption will not stop. We will make them crazy. We will cry and scream until midnight each night and then blame them for being tired in the morning. They will not bring us down. They can’t force us to not be gluttons. We will hold our tummies in pain and point to them for making our lives miserable.”

This is why there are never any pictures of me, “Please honey! Quick take a picture of me with the kids.” This is when my children riot against me and cry and throw themselves. Does it really pain them so to be in a picture with me? Am I really that bad of a mom that you can’t PRETEND to be happy for one moment with me? Why do I never get to be in any photos? Why do you guys taunt me like this?

No pictures of them together as it was mass chaos as soon as we arrived to our grandparent’s house. I will relish these pictures as the Easter clothes were ruined swiftly. Emily proceeded to eat jelly beans and drip purple drool down the front of her dress and face. Ethan decided to take fluorescent markers to the sleeve of his sweater. Don’t you know it is my dream to have more clothes to add to the laundry piles? At least we have these sweet moments on camera.

A sweet moment before the purple jelly beans are found. Grandpa stuffed them silly with sugar and waved us off in our car as we took the little sugar fiends home. Isn’t that what grandparents do best? I can’t wait to be a grandma one day and do the same thing!

We enjoyed a delicious meal fixed by grandma for our gang. These beautiful flowers were her centerpiece- a touch of spring for us as we look out the windows at the snow. Spring can’t come soon enough for me!

Happy Easter, Take Two!

I never have any decent pictures of me with the girls either! After church (Amelia fell asleep in Alan’s lap for 45 minutes), we survived an hour plus lunch at O’Charley’s and arrived at my mother’s house, the girls were a mess and Amelia had marker (thankfully washable) on the front of her cute yellow and white gingham smocked dress. My mother wanted to take pictures and the girls looked pretty worn down and it was only 3 o’clock! ;)

I laughed all the way through your post, because I identify with all of it! I have a precious few pictures of my 3 kids together, because I can never get them all to smile at the same time. I’m SOOOOO grateful for digital cameras and the freedom to snap 18 thousand pictures. :)

    Emily’s dress is beautiful!!

I thought of you this morning when I was at Aldi. The rising grocery prices make it depressing to shop at even the cheapest stores! I’m grateful that we’ve been training ourselves in frugality for 7 years, so we’re prepared for the sliding economy. It makes me even more grateful for the tips I learn from bloggers like you!

Funny Post! I related with it all the way through. Before church on Sunday, I was packing a little bag with things to keep my 2 year old occupied. I put startburst in it, but only picked out the yellow ones, so if she drooled while eating them it wouldn’t show as much on her dress. I also was excited to get a good picture of the girls and I on Easter Sunday. I am always the one with the camera, so I have very few pictures with myself in them.

Hehe! We visited the grandparents this weekend, and I can SO relate to everything you said! Especially the pictures-with-mom part. :)

My grandfather (who has been like a father to me), and great-grandfather to my kids says that the great thing about being a “great” grandfather – now he gets to enjoy the kids and has two levels of parents to pass them off to when he wants a break! Gee, thanks Papa! I don’t care, I’m just so happy he is part of their lives.

    they are so precious!!!

my parents know better than to give my son candy, even though my father insists that i am “mean” for not allowing it. my mother-in-law, however, is still learning.
