My husband builds some amazing forts for the kids using sofa cushions, comforters, and lots of fluffy pillows. Throw on a DVD from the library and you have your very own movie theater! The kids had a great time with daddy while I was gone last night. Aren’t dads just the best fort builders?

When the kids climb in bed, my husband and I pretend it is summer and sip our Magic Milkshakes. We sip these as we catch up on our work in the evening or just spend time chatting while we slurp our shakes down. The Midwest folks have spring fever so we do what we can to make it feel like it is hot outside!

Simplicity seems to please on most accounts. I think the act of building together and making your own treats give the kids so much more value and great memories that just splashing out heaps of cash at the multiplex.

Looks like our house! My husband and son are a fort-building team! Although we had never used them as a movie theatre ~ great idea! I think I’ll use it! We borrow movies from the library now and then…can’t get better than that? Magic Milkshakes…hmmm…think I’ll go check the recipe! Thanks!

My kids like to take all of the couch cushions and build “homes.” It’s a pain to clean up, but it keeps them happy for a good bit of time so it’s worth it.

Ah yes, this is one of my boys’ favorite things! We build tents using the dining room chairs, and then I let the boys watch a movie on my laptop – complete with popcorn. They think it’s a blast!
