I'm headed to a conference this weekend and needed some new professional looking clothes! I was at BJs picking up some supplies for work and walked through the clothes area and to my surprise they had some nice looking stuff. They had some long sleeve, button down dress shirts for $10 in a variety of different colors! The sleeves were the perfect length. Also, I noticed they had some Polo/Ralph Lauren capri pants for only $19, which I'm sure originally are priced more. Might be another option as far as clothing is concerned!

Awwww thanks for the link love, Amy! I feel so bloggy loved. :) Absolutely fabulous post! The only bone I have to pick is with Payless. I wear a size 11 (don't gasp, I'm 6 feet tall so I HAVE to have big feet so I don't fall over) and they have cute shoes, but when you get to the larger sizes all they have are old grandma shoes. I mean no disrespect to grandmas, of course.

I have some ideas for next week...not really 'money saving' though, but things that have been on my mind...How often should we clean things such as floors, carpets, couches, etc.

I've been so busy lately that I haven't been posting or visiting as much as I used to. Building a new home (and being the contractor for it) and looking after a baby is a lot of work!! Thanks for coming by and sharing my blog! :)

~melody~

TopazTook- I think each Old Navy store varies on what they carry in store, but visiting online can offer the most options for sizing and variety. It is a flat shipping rate and if you are unhappy with an item you can return it to your physical store, which is nice because you don't have to mail it back. The clearance racks can't be beat and I usually do really well there. I am really petite though so I have trouble ordering pants online since I really need to try them on. Our local store seems to offer a good variety, but I have been to other stores that have had tons more than ours.

I have had good luck checking the clearance racks at Christopher and Banks. I have found a shirt for $3 there before, and a lovely velvet skirt that is perfectly appropriate for any winter "dressup" occasion for $4!

I have never had good luck with Old Navy, though: is it possible that different retail locations stock different things? There is never anything fashionable in mine.

I am a huge fan of clearance rack shopping. I can usually find clothing cheaper at a department store (Macy's, Dillards, JCPenney, Kohls)on the clearance rack than I can at Wally World, Target, or a thrift store. I love it when I find pieces for 3-5 dollars.

I never seem to find anything that matches my "classic" tastes and shoe string budget at stores like TJMaxx or Marshalls. Recently I was in TJMaxx and saw PJs for 9.99 and just a few days before I had bought the same on a clearance rack at Kohls for 3.88.

Those are great places too, Leanne. I would prefer to shop at all high-end stores and that is why I mentioned stopping in to places too that normally seem out of your range, just because one never knows what they might find :) I like those cheaper lines though for accomplishing a couple of trends that keep me up feeling fashionable, but I won't have regrets if they don't last as long or if the items are not as fashionable the next year. One purse, one pair of shoes, a blouse in the current prints/styles...nothing too extravagant but makes me feel like I am still with it.

Thank you so much for the compliments on the fashion end. I am no fashion expert, just a mommy that loves to be cool once in awhile :)

I really am a fan of buying high quality clothing post-season! I try to dress on the more "classic" side, so I don't buy a lot of trendy clothing. I do try to buy trendy shoes and bags to "update" my look.
Talbots.com has an outlet section which often discounts its clothing another 20% off.
EddieBauer.com has a new clearance section with super cheap clothes.
One other way I save on clothing is to google for online coupon codes...eg: "eddie bauer coupon codes" will return several websites where you are likely to find free shipping and discounts of 15-20% off!
Finally, LL Bean's markdown day is Thursday...there shipping prices are reasonable...and I have clothing from there that has lasted for YEARS!!
I LOVE YOUR FASHION POSTS, AMY! KEEP THEM COMING!!
