They are more user friendly and have helped me understand Photoshop more. I love MDI but I'm not sure you can buy it after Vista came out, worth looking into though. I resolved to do the same after getting soaked for so so pictures for last year's Christmas pictures. Took my own this year and I like them better than the studio's last year. Good luck. I'd highly recommend checking into your local camera club and checking out sites like DIY photography, and the Digital Story as you start to dig into photography. For Photoshop - check out Photoshop Killer Tips (short not overwhelming photoshop bits). Super resolution!
