We either make turkeys out of construction paper or cut out fall colored leaves and write what we're thankful for on the feathers or leaves. We arrange these under the glass on our dining room table so we can read them over the Thanksgiving Holiday. I don't use a table clothe and the table always looks cheerful and decorated for the holiday. We save the thankful notes every year to look back on.

Another idea I've seen is a thankful tree that's hung on the wall. The notes are written on the leaves and everyone takes their turn reading what they're thankful for and taping their leaves on the tree.

We also use this time to teach and emphasize thankfulness with the kids in prayer.

Another fun thing to do is to give the kids a penny every time we catch them saying please, thank-you and you're welcome. This is great for young kids.

Repost from frugal Hacks:
I like to send Thank you notes out at Thanksgiving to my friends and family. I try to make them personal and sometimes they relate to childhood memories. For instance, last year I thanked my brother for never telling our parents that I helped tie dye our white husky with food coloring. I get a good response every year and every now and then I get one in return. In addition to this, this year I am starting a thankful tablecloth where we each add some special event (like a birth or marriage) that we are thankful for to our Thanksgiving tablecloth. I think it will make a nice heirloom one day. I am having it embroidered, but you could use fabric markers
