I use cold water for most everything. . . Also, Fels Naptha bar soap, which is very economical, is great for pretreating stains. (It's also an ingredient in many homemade laundry detergent recipes.)

I have no secret recipe, but i will be very interested in hearing what everyone else has to say. With 5 of us in the house seems like i am always doing laundry!

One question i have is there a brand of detergent that is better than another. Also, do some of your clothes really need to be washed in warm water, or do your clothes get just as clean in cold water?
