Amy,

I appreciated this series. My favorite posts were about extending or taking advantage of things we already have (like the freezer).

A wise man said to me once "We love people.....we enjoy things" If you look at your check registry it will reflect what you deam important. As I have gotten older I realize that I don't "NEED" so many things....the more "things" you have the more time it takes to care (dust-sweep-clean) for them. I have some cherished family heirlooms.....but I don't feel the need to shop to fill a void in my life. I do enjoy doing for others...especially anonymously.

I really enjoyed your series, and your closing thoughts! "We cannot afford trial and error in our house"--I'm with you there, and with the Consumer Reports/Epinions advice. Thanks for all the great tips!
