What a great collection of tips!

Buying used clothes gets easier the more you do it.

I have the hardest time buying used clothes for myself, because I can't seem to squeeze 2 kids in the dressing room with me anymore! But I always find lots of great kids' clothes, especially coats and snowpants. It's almost criminal to pay retail for those.

An addition to #5-sizes have changed over the last 10 years. An older piece labeled a 16 might fit someone who is a 12 now. I usually wear about a 10, and I've bought everything from an 8 to a 12 in thrift stores.

Also, higher price brands frequently run much larger than their label would lead you to believe. . . So look at a range :)

One of the things I like best about thrift store shopping is that things have already been washed a bunch of times, so if the color and fit are good, then they are likely to remain so even after you launder them.
