My elementary school age boys like to take my homemade version of lunchables.... I purchased the inserts that go in a fishing tackle box (they have great small dividers built in) they take pepperoni, bologna, different cheeses, pretzels, carrot sticks, etc. and their friends think it's pretty cool, too! Plus, they actually like the tackle box & won't accidentally throw it away. I think they were like $1.99 or so at Walmart.

Great interview, as usual.

I like to make a pan of brownies, or a batch of cookies, and then freeze them in "serving sizes". In the morning just pull one out of the freezer and throw it in.

Also, younger kids like "assembling" things. So I've sent crackers, cheese cut into rounds, lunch meat cut into rounds etc etc so that they can make their own sandwiches.

I like to save my free/cheap after coupon items for lunch boxes.vThose items tend to be convenience products I would not usually include in my regular menu but they come in handy for lunch boxes.
