I love using my toaster oven to make turkey sandwiches...it gives them the bread that freshly baked warm taste adding a bit of crisp on the edges, and turkey heated up makes my kids think they are eating at Subway....but better.

Great article--this inspires me to try to use my toaster oven more. One thing we make in it is open-faced "fluffernutter" sandwiches. We save our bread ends to make them. Spread peanut butter on slice of bread, top with a handful of mini marshmallows and toast until golden. Delicious! carrie

My toaster oven is probably the most used appliance in my kitchen. I use it for all the kind of things you mention. I also use it to heat things like fish sticks and chicken tenders for lunch or to reheat left overs. A slice or two of cheese between two slices of bread is a lazy person's toasted cheese sandwich, without all the grease of a grilled cheese.

My oven went on the blitz but the stove still worked so until we could save money to get a new stove I used my toaster oven to bake in.

I called it my easybake oven. lol. I made cookies, baked small cakes, pies, etc. It worked fine and didnt heat up the house in the summer.

I loved it and still use it sometimes in the summer even though I have a new stove.

Vicki

I have had both a regular toaster and a toaster oven in my married life and I really love the toaster over! I use mine for all the things you mentiioned as well as broiling things like open faced tuna sand. Melting cheese on things is great too. I like being able to make 4 slices of toast at a time and reheating those leftovers from restuarents without them getting limp like in the microwave.

We received a toaster oven as a housewarming gift. At first I wasn't sure what to do with it, but now I'm not sure what I would do without it! I'm constantly using it for that toaster oven pizza you mentioned (on an English muffin...mmm) and to make an easy "quesadilla" for my toddler - lunch meat + shredded cheese on any tortilla (we like whole wheat), fold in half, stick in the toaster oven until the cheese is all melty and the tortilla is crispy. Cut into wedges with a pizza cutter. You could also add tomato. Yum! I usually cook mine for less than 5 minutes; you have to be careful or the tortilla will burn. We also make easy nachos with shredded cheese.

Thanks for the articles! There are a lot of neat ideas there...grilled vegetables? Yum!
