I just wanted to add to my comment about tantrums that you have to make sure that the kid can't hurt themselves before you ignore them!

A nutritionist once told me that pizza is one of the greatest combination foods. It has grains (dough), vegetables (tomato sauce, whatever veggies you put in it), dairy (cheese), and meat. I've never forgotten that and bring it up to mind evertime that I eat it.

My sister and I are 18 months apart and when we were kids we would fight without pause. My father (who was one of 11 children) used to always say to us, "Friends may come and go, but your sister is forever." When we were teenagers, I never thought I'd see the day when we would be as close as we are now. I see her everyday without fail and we talk on the phone and never seem to run out of subjects. It's funny how your parents know what they're talking about after all!

Best advice is be wary of children who act out, are shy, and having a lot of problems. There is a good chance they are being abused. That abuser is most likely someone you know and trust. Even might be in your own family. Kids aren't naturally bad, they are acting out and you've got to get to the root cause. Trust your instincts and protect all children.

7 Steps to Protect Children

I'd heard the same thing about the skin on your neck, that it typically looks ten years older than the skin on your face because of neglect.

Advice? Gosh, it's so hard to come up with it without a memory prompter.

My Dad always says that if you have a problem that can be fixed with money then it's not really a problem.

I guess he means that those kinds of problems are usually within the realm of control to fix. Not like losing a spouse or divorce or any number of bad things that happen to people.

My piece of advice comes from my MIL. She has a degree in and teaches family, home and consumer sciences. She also raised four kids who have all turned out pretty great! She said that when your child throws a tantrum to COMPLETELY ignore it. Some kids will even hold their breath for attention. They won't seriously hurt themselves and when they pass out from holding their breath, they will start to breathe again and be just fine. My son (4) threw some whopper tantrums and we just ignore them or laugh at him. He is a great little boy. I also have an 18 month old, so we'll see where the theory takes us with her...

Someone once told me that "Anything worth having is worth sacrificing for." This helps me through the more difficult sacrifices I make for the benefit of my family.
Here's a piece of advice I give to my sons, "Lead by example." Of course, this is usually said in a pleading voice at the grocery store when the boys are wreaking havoc, and I'm trying to solicit help from the older ones. It's still poignant, in general.
Lastly, (this is more of a life's lesson than advice) when the boys are at each other's throats, I occasionally ask them, "What's the greatest gift Mommy and Daddy ever gave to you?" Their response (with a roll of the eyes), "My brothers." That's one lesson I hope they hold on to.

Our childbirth teachers told us "Everything is a phase." in regards to children. I have made that my mantra through colic, sleep issues and now teething. It is reassuring that the bad parts don't last forever. Also a reminder to cherish the sweet moments 'cause they are fleeting too.

yes, they actually do make a moisturizer. One is a thinner type lotion and one is a thick heavy one. I use the thinner lotion because the other one seems a bit too heavy for my face and it works great. Meijer also had an off-brand of that. It is great stuff! This type comes in a pump versus the jar of heavy moisurizer.

I recently read the same thing about Cetaphil. And that's awesome b/c it is available almost anywhere. My question is, does Cetaphil make a moisturizer, too? Or just a cleanser?
