Anonymous- I never copied anything at all. I would never copy copyrighted art. My son had a book with a cover on the book. I took the book cover and framed it. The actual book cover. That we purchased. And no, we do not teach our children to steal, but thank you for your concern.

You know it’s illegal to copy copyrighted art without permission, right? Think about the example you’re setting for your kids…are you teaching them that it’s OK to steal?

Yup, I sure did. Of course, these jackets were just gathering dust in my son’s closet so they weren’t put to good use anyway. It wasn’t a big deal for us, but you could always hunt the bargain sales at your library or Barnes & Noble if you didn’t want to cut those up Thanks so much for all the comments, everyone!

That green is absolutely gorgeous! I love it!

I also really like using the book jacket covers for pictures, though am I understanding correctly that you actually *gulp* cut them up?

The whole bedroom setup is really beautiful!

Piggy-backing on ideas … my friend bought Dollar Store 8″x10″ frames for the pictures her preschooler made; the ones in primary colors of scribbles were terrific! They were put up on the walls and also going up the stairs. She printed carefully the date on the corner.

oh BTW peroxide is the best stain remover for blood I know!!:) A nurse in the ER told me that trick when we had to go get some stitches. It worked great!

Hey, Amy – growing up we always framed calendar pictures, then changed them monthly to keep it “seasonal”. We also framed pretty cards (still do) and postcards from the art museum. I’ve taken to framing my kids’ artwork from school – looks better than some stuff for sale! -Beth

Love that green! One of my son’s walls is the same color. The rest are an ivory/bisque color. We didn’t know how much of that green we could actually live with. But we love it!

Another frugal idea for kids’ room wall art is to find vintage kids’ books at the thrift store and frame the cute, retro illustrations as-is or scan them and print them out larger.

i have done the calendar idea that ‘knowhimwell’ commented about above, with great results! i used a one with black and white photos of Parisian scenes, and discount frames….so cheap, and i got TONS of compliments. one calendar used around a room or two really helps unify the space!
