This is a great idea. We try to have a movie night every Saturday. It a way for all of us to get together and be in the same room at once!

Here via Carnival of Family Life.

Great topic! It's sad that, even with the young ones, schedules are already getting filled with too many activities. A designated night is a must just to make sure we have quality time together. I posted earlier this week about our recent family movie night. Here's the link: http://www.playlibrary.com/2006/10/21/family-movie-night/

Thanks for the submission to the carnival. Nice suggestions. I'm sure we'll all like to be reminded of this. Look for the carnival on Monday.

When my sons went to college and lived away from home, we still had Sunday family day. We watched football in the fall and swam in the summer; always followed by a traditional dinner. My oldest son got married last weekend and we are working on getting together for the family holidays. The tradition starts early and I know it will carry on.

Great post, Amy.
There are so many more distractions for kids these days. What were we going to do besides hang out with our parents, play Pong? No. We watched Night Rider. Together.

If your readers are looking for more ideas, Rookie Moms (http://rookiemoms.com) is all about stuff to do with your litle ones.

This is such a wonderful thing to do with our families. It seems like in this day in age families are suffering. We do not have a designated family night, but it seems like family night is everynight in our house. We always sit down as a family and eat dinner, unless dad is working late. We have a no TV policy from after dinner until bedtime (although it has been broken lately with my morning sickness being so bad!) We play games, read, do puzzles, play simon says and animal charades, do crafts or practice our letters, numbers and colors. Sometime my husband and I just watch the kids dance around and being funny.
