My Mom ,Dad and I had a conversation about the huge waist that phone books are today. I did some online research and found that GOOGLE has a FREE 411 service making 411 and phonebooks obsolete !!!! its 1800-GOOG-411 ! And NO you do not need a computer . Save it to your phone now! Next lets put phone book companies out of business. Now we can attack Starbucks 1 use coffee cup manufacturers.DIE =D

you can also make a christmas tree by either cutting straigh across corner to corner, or half of the tree shape, once you cut all the pages out, hotglur the book in half and spray paint green (this will keep the pages separate a bit, and have kids decorate!

We have put them in the car. It works well. We also save old phone books from towns we used to live in for times when we need an address or phone number from there.

Re: Pat I cut the phone book (small 1-1/4" thick)on a band saw (3-1/2" width) and then just taped the binding (horizontally)with duct tape or any tape to hold it together. It is fast cheap and works great for elderly or children! Trish

Those are great ideas but I'm looking for how to cut a phone book and make it a cardholder for the handicapped. Anyone know? I saw it once at a Parkinson Meeting but don't remember how to do it. I know you duct tape the binding but Don't know if it is before or after you "saw" it. Any help would be appreciated. Pat

I use old phone books to help prop up knick knacks and silk floral arrangements above my kitchen cabinets, my hutch, and a very high plant shelf above my walk-in closet.
