She gave out little sand pails with a bean bag, bubbles, and a shovel as favors. Since then, none of the moms in our group have had a "gift party" - they are all "no gifts please." But the moms at my daughter's preschool haven't caught on to this new trend and still have these crazy elaborate parties, giving away favors that are more expensive than the gift I brought! Whatever happened to cake & ice cream being enough? I seem to recall that's all I ever got, along with being able to choose what we got for dinner. I didn't even HAVE a "friend" birthday party until I was in the 5th grade (& I doubt my mom had favors for everyone!). Maybe we should start a revolution!!! AMEN!!!!!
